The song you didn't recognize was the old famous "New Potato Caboose." I love that tune!
Dead stopped playing that early staple of their shows in the summer of 1969 and never played it again, so to hear Phil do it live was a great treat.
And the band only ever played Golden Road a few times, not later than 1967. I never even knew anybody who saw them play that live.
To have Phil and the band revive those old favorites was totally amazing!
This was one of the most fun shows I've ever seen! Five stars are given out too often, but this show deserves them for that great second set!
The recording is good too for an audience taper. Some crowd noise, but nothing too distracting. Sounds nice in headphones.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Subject: More Phil at the Fillmore
Good performance by the band this night as i was there packed in the heated Fillmore Auditorium in downtown Denver. I really enjoyed the Second half vibe more with alot more energy with songs like Feel Like a Stranger, Playing in the Band, Dark Star, Uncle Johns Band, Sugar Magnolia/Sunshine Daydream, and Dire Wolf. Philly played a cover song i didnt know inbetween the dark star and he kind of mumble through it, and also forgot some lyrics on alligator. Philly can really hit it on some songs like Box of Rain where his voice flows real gracefully but some songs i just wasnt feeling. Great evening cant wait for ROTHBURY!

My first PL&F show and he was amazing. The Aligator is reason enough to download the show. Same with Playin' > Dark Star, really good stuff. There was a lot of energy in the crowd and onstage this night, really monster second set. Mind blowing.
